[Non-Degree Program] Academy of Korean Studies Graduate Fellowship 2021, South Korea (Fully Funded)



The AKS Graduate Fellowship is a non-degree program which invites international students at overseas universities in the fields of Korean studies to the Graduate School of Korean Studies, supporting them for six months to help them grow to be a next generation of promising scholars in Korean studies.

Requirement:

As of the beginning of the fellowship period, applicants must meet all of the following qualifications.
A. A foreign national or a Korean national residing overseas a A Korean national must have completed education outside of Korea which is compatible with Korea's elementary, middle, high school and college ed ucation.
B. Applicants are enrolled in a Master's or a doctoral degree program, or completed coursework and are in the status of ABD But Dissertation) in a Master's degree program at an overseas university.
C. An applicant's research topic pertains to Korea.

  • Nationality:
    • An applicant should be either a foreign national or a Korean national who has completed education outside of Korea which is compatible with Korea‘s elementary, middle, high school, and college education.
  • Educational Background:
    • Applicants must meet one of the following conditions: Applicants are
    • Applicants are enrolled in a Master's or a doctoral degree program, or completed coursework and are in the status of ABD But Dissertation) in a Master's degree program at an overseas university.
  • Research Topic:
    • An applicant’s research topic should pertain to Korea/Korean studies.
A high level of proficiency in Korean language is preferred.
Previous AKS Graduate Fellows are not eligible to apply again.

Fellows' Obligations:
  • Fellows are required to designate one of the professors at the Graduate School of Korean Studies whose specialty is most relevant to their research topic as their academic advisor.
  • Fellows ficluld take at least one major-specific course taught by their academic advisor or an individual study with their academic advisor.
  • Completing their research,fellows must submit a report summarizing their research findings and join a presentation session as a speaker before leaving the country.

  • Certificate of Enrollment (or Coursework Completion, or Graduation) and Official Transcripts for a Master’s degree
  • Certificate of Enrollment and Official Transcripts for a doctoral degree*
  • Language Proficiency Certificate(s) (i.g. TOPIK, TOEFL, IELTS)*
  • A Copy of Passport
  • An ID Photo
