[Master and Professional Development Certificate] Rotary Peace Fellowship Program 2022-2023 (Fully Funded)

Each year, Rotary funds some of the world's most dedicated and brightest leaders to study at Rotary Peace Centers. Through training, study, and practice, Rotary Peace Fellows become catalysts for peace and development. Many go on to careers with governments, NGOs, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank.

Applications for the 2021-22 Rotary Peace Fellowship program are now being accepted. The due date for candidates to submit applications to their district is 31 May. Districts must submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July. Review district endorsement instructions.

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for leaders with work experience in peace and development. Our fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace.

Programs
Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for certificate studies at premier universities.

Master’s degree programs:
Accepted candidates study peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body. The programs last 15 to 24 months and include a two- to three-month field study, which participants design themselves.
Professional development certificate program:
During the one-year blended learning program, experienced peace and development professionals with diverse backgrounds gain practical skills to promote peace within their communities and across the globe. Fellows complete field studies, and they also design and carry out a social change initiative. This program is intended for working professionals.

University Admission
Upon selection and notification, shortlisted candidates must apply for admission at their designated university as dictated in the Assignment Letter. The fellowship will be nullified if a selected candidate is unable to gain admission.

Receiving admission to a partner university before application to the Rotary Peace Fellowship program does not guarantee that a candidate will be selected for a fellowship.

Professional development certificate Rotary Peace Center:

The Rotary Foundation offers a comprehensive funding package for all Rotary Peace Fellows. For master’s degree fellows, the Foundation covers expenses related to tuition, room and board, travel to and from the peace center, AFE experiences, conferences, and research. Professional certificate program fellows receive funding for expenses related to tuition, on-campus accommodation, course materials, insurance, travel to and from the peace center, and field study experiences.

Have at least three years of full-time experience in peace or development work

Demonstrate leadership skills
Be able to explain how their plan to promote peace aligns with Rotary’s mission
Candidates for Makerere University: Either be from Africa, have worked in Africa, or work with African communities or initiatives outside the continent.

How to Apply:

Follow these steps to ensure that your application receives consideration.

Review the eligibility restrictions.
Research the curriculum and programs at each of the Rotary Peace Centers. You will be asked to rank two centers you prefer for the Master's program and one center for the certificate program.
Submit your application by 15 May. Applications require a resume, academic and/or professional recommendations, essays, transcripts, social impact plan (certificate only), and test scores (master's only). All materials must be in English.
Get endorsed. As part of the application process, you need to connect with a Rotary district and get endorsed. Districts are regionally-based Rotary representatives located throughout the world. You can identify and contact your local Rotary district directly through the application platform. The district will interview you then submit an endorsement decision for your application.
Engage with Rotary. Use the Club Finder to locate the Rotary club nearest you. Connecting with a club is a great way to learn about Rotary's work in your community and around the world. Clubs recommendations are optional, but strongly recommended as part of your application.
Await selection results. Email notifications will be sent in November. If you are chosen for a fellowship, you will be told at which Peace Center you will study.
Apply for admission to the university where your Peace Center is located. Being selected for the fellowship does not mean you have been admitted to the university
