Since 1971, Ewha International Summer College (EISC) has been the epicentre of global exchange for summer students all over the world. The EISC establishment prides itself in its ability to provide a comprehensive academic program, accompanied with dynamic field trips and cultural excursions that allows students to immerse in Korean cultures.

The EISC features two programs that cater to different interests and needs such as the 4 week Session 1 and the 2 week Session 2.

With over 40 credit-bearing courses in 9 disciplines, courses at the EISC are carefully selected and taught by top professors from both Ewha and prestigious professors from all over the world. The well-balanced and wide-ranging curriculum is open to both males and females that features a relatively small class size and faculty to student ratio that provides an intimate learning environment for students. In addition, EISC also offers Korean language classes that allows summer students to learn Korean at their appropriate level of fluency at both Session 1 and Session 2. The summer programs are designed to allow students to engage in lively interactions with both peers and professors both inside and outside the classroom through enriching academics and experiential learning.

At EISC, learning is a concept that goes beyond pen and paper. With an abundance of field trips and cultural excursions, students have the opportunity to explore the streets of Korea as well as major tourist destinations with fellow students.

With over 500 students from more than 17 countries, students have the opportunity to expand their global network and meet like-minded individuals while establishing long-lasting friendships. Furthermore, with the guidance of the Ewha PEACE buddies students can easily become acclimated to the Ewha campus while simultaneously interacting with both local Ewha and international students.

The Ewha International Summer College operates in conjunction with the Office of International Affairs of Ewha Womans University.

Requirement:
Current undergraduate and graduate students including prospective students who will begin undergraduate studies in fall 2020 are also eligible to apply. (2.0/4.5 as minimum GPA)

Required Documents:
Applications are accepted online only. Students must submit the following materials:

• Face Picture (3cm * 4 cm) in jpg. File Format
• Scanned Copy of College or University Enrollment Certification or Transcript *
• Scanned Copy of Passport Bio-Page
• Scanned Copy of Overseas Traveler’s Insurance **

* Enrollment certification or proof of admission to university or college for Fall 2019 suffice.
** A copy of Overseas Traveler’s Health Insurance covering any incidents or medical emergencies that may occur during the student’s participation in the Ewha ISC.

Scholarship

Requirement:

• All officially enrolled & tuition-paying visiting students in Ewha ISC
• Full scholarship recipients are required to take two or more courses.

Note

• Students from partner schools under exchange status (tuition and application fee already waived) are not eligible to apply for the below scholarships.
• Please send the application form and required documents to gosummer@ewha.ac.kr.
• For EWUUACNA Washington DC Chapter Scholarship, send application materials directly to the Scholarship Committee Chair of EWUUACNA Washington DC Chapter.
• Scholarship results will be announced through individual e-mails.
• Students can apply for only one of the full scholarships.

1. Ewha ISC Excellence Award 

• Full tuition and application fee support for 3 students 
• Students whose cumulative GPA is above ‘B’ are eligible to apply.

Required documents:

• Completed Ewha ISC Excellence Award application form
• A copy of college transcript
• Personal essay (in free format)
• A copy of passport bio-page
• 1 letter of recommendation by a professor at home university

♦ Ewha ISC excellence awardees must receive ‘B’ or higher grades for both courses taken at Ewha in order to receive the scholarships.

2. Ewha ISC-EWUUACNA (Ewha Womans University United Alumnae Chapters of North America), Washington DC Chapter Scholarship

• Washington DC Chapter Scholarship : http://www.ewhadcchapter.com 
• Full tuition, application fee, field trip and accommodation support for 2 students
• The Washington, DC Chapter of EWUUACNA scholarship supports both foreign nationals and Korean nationals currently residing in the USA who wish to study in the Ewha ISC.

• A copy of college/university transcript or a copy of an acceptance letter from the admitted institution (applicable to high school students)

• A letter of recommendation from professor/teacher

3. Gloria Hahn Memorial Scholarship

• Full tuition and application fee support for 1 student
• Dr. Richard Hahn established this memorial scholarship for his wife, Kim Ronyoung (Mrs. Gloria Hahn) in 1988. 
• Mrs. Hahn is the author of “Clay Walls”, the first novel written by a Korean-American about Korean immigrants to the USA during the early 20th century.

4. Bishop SharonZ. Rader Scholarship

• Full tuition and application fee support for 3 students
• For study at Ewha Womans University International Summer School
• The board of International Foundation for Ewha W. University established a scholarship fund with the undesignated income from the 40th anniversary dinner in 2010 and named it Bishop Sharon Zimmerman Rader Scholarship to honor the love, dedication and leadership for Ewha she has shown in her presidency (2002-2014). It is for non-Korean American/Canadian students to study at Ewha’s International Summer School.

5. Drs. Ira & Chang Hyun Shin Geer Scholarship

• Full tuition and application fee support for 2 student
• For study at Ewha Womans University International Summer School.
• Drs. Ira & Cindy Chang Hyun Shin Geer established this scholarship. Dr. Cindy Chang Hyun Shin Geer (’57 Education) graduated from Ewha Womans University and the State University of New York, Buffalo, with Ph.D. in International Education (1981). She is the author of River of Faith – 40 years history of the International Foundation for Ewha W. University. This Scholarship supports the International Summer College students from developing countries.

6.   Southern California Alumnae Summer School Scholarship

• Full tuition and application fee support for 3 students
• The Southern California Alumnae Summer School Scholarship was established in November, 2015 by the Ewha University Alumnae Association of Southern California. This scholarship is for US students enrolled in accredited US college/university who want to study at Ewha International Summer College. Preferably residents in zip code 900XX – 928XX.
