The Cambodia International Debate & Public Speaking Championship Series (CamDEBATE) is a premiere platform for professional development in public speaking and debate, cultivating a healthy culture of dialogue and the sharing of different perspectives to promote and foster understanding, friendship and knowledge among youths in Cambodia. CamDEBATE is an initiative of IDP Education, a world leader in international education and student placement services, in partnership with key institutions in Cambodia and internationally.

CamDEBATE aims to provide:
  • a platform to support the development of problem solving, critical thinking and interpersonal skills among Cambodian students and young professionals
  • an opportunity for individuals who wish to engage in debate and public speaking in English to increase their fluency and showcase their proficiency
  • an opportunity to develop important skills that benefit participants’ academic journeys, personal development and career prospects
  • an occasion to independently learn, research and form opinions on complex topics that will contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals
  • a networking opportunity for individuals from different backgrounds and nationalities

Eligibilities:
  • The Annual CamDEBATE is divided into 2 categories: Debate and Public Speaking. Each contestant can apply for both categories.
  • High School
    • 15 years and above by the date of registration
    • Are studying in high school at the time of registration
  • University & Young Professionals
    • Below 25 years by the date of registration
    • Are studying at the university at the time of registration
    • Currently employed or self-employed OR have successfully completed an undergraduate program in any field

Prizes (Debate Category):
The winning teams from both High School & University and Young Professionals levels in the Debate category will be awarded as below:

1st Winning Team
  • A fully-funded study tour trip to the UK for 2 weeks for the 3 members of the winning team (includes an intensive English language program, flights, meals, accommodation, airport transfers upon arrival and departure, travel insurance and visa application fees)
  • A team trophy and an individual medal for each team member
  • Champion Certificate
  • 1 year scholarship to study at ACE
  • Other prizes

Runner-up Team
  • 2 term scholarship to study at ACE
  • An individual medal for each team member
  • Champion Certificate
  • Other prizes

Prizes (Public Speaking Category)
The winners from both High School & University and Young Professionals levels in the Public Speaking category will be awarded as below:

1st Winer
  • A fully-funded study tour trip to the UK for 2 weeks (includes an intensive English language program, flights, meals, accommodation, airport transfers upon arrival and departure, travel insurance and visa application fees)
  • A champion trophy and medal
  • Champion Certificate
  • 1 year scholarship to study at ACE
  • Other prizes
2nd Winner
  • A fully-funded trip to the UK for 2 weeks (includes an intensive English language program, flights, meals, accommodation, airport transfers upon arrival and departure, travel insurance and visa application fees)
  • A winner medal and certificate
  • 2 term scholarship to study at ACE
  • Other prizes

*Please note that the overseas trip is offered to winners provided that they are able to meet the visa conditions of the destination country.
